1. Retainment of an idea, notion, or experience.
2. [Fig.] personification of the ability of the mind to recall past events, feelings, etc.
3. Collection of events, experiences, etc. stored in the mind.
4. In active recollection.
5. Portion of the mind where remembrances of past experience are stored.
