  1. Sphere-shaped heavenly body which revolves around the earth causing a gravitational pull of the waters on the surface from which the tides are formed; earth's only natural satellite; globe that reflects the sun's light onto the earth.
  2. Light of the earth's natural satellite, a reflection of the sun's light.
  3. Physical features of the moon's surface that refract and reflect the sun's light, sometimes causing the appearance of facial features; the man in the moon.
  4. Shape of the moon, varying from a sliver to complete circle depending on its position to the sun and earth.
