1. [Trans.] to adjust musical instrument tones to a standard pitch.
2. [Fig.] to 'put in tune' (with various shades of meaning); to bring into accord or harmony; to attune; to put into a state adapted to produce proper sounds.
3. To give forth a musical sound; to sing.
4. (Trans.) to utter or express musically; to celebrate in music; to form one sound to another.
