Definition for TER'RACE
TER'RACE, n. [Fr. terrasse; It. terrazzo; Sp. terrado; from L. terra, the earth.]
- In gardening, a raised bank of earth with sloping side, laid with turf, and graveled on the top for a walk. Cyc.
- A balcony or open gallery. Johnson.
- The flat roof of a house. All the buildings of the Oriental nations are covered with terraces, where people walk or sleep.
