TREAD, n. [tred.]
- A step or stepping; pressure with the foot; as, a nimble tread; cautious tread; doubtful tread. Milton. Dryden.
- Way; track; path. [Little used.] – Shak.
- Compression of the male fowl.
- Manner of stepping; as, a horse has a good tread.
