A-LAC'RI-TY, n. [L. alacritas, from alacer, alacris.]

Cheerfulness; gayety; sprightliness; more usually, a cheerful readiness or promptitude to do some act; cheerful willingness; as, the soldiers advanced with alacrity to meet the enemy.
