- Expire; decompose; die; pass away; slowly progress towards death.
- Fade; shrivel; wither; lose vitality.
- Depart; vanish into darkness; disappear into shadow.
- Disband; separate; break up; fall apart; lose efficacy; experience breach of contract; [fig.] divorce.
