IN-CEP'TIVE, a. [L. inceptivus, from incipio, to begin.]
Beginning; noting beginning; as, an inceptive proposition; an inceptive verb, which expresses the beginning of action. A point is inceptive of a line, and a line is inceptive of a surface.
