BYS'SIN, or BYS'SUS, n. [Gr. βυσσος, infra.]

  1. A silk or linen hood. [Not in use.] – Gower.
  2. The thread or fibers by which the genera Pinna, Byssoana and other animals attach themselves to extraneous bodies.
