SEP-A-RA'TION, n. [Fr. from L. separatio; It. separazione; Sp. separacion.]
- The act of separating, severing or disconnecting; disjunctions; as, the separation of the soul from the body.
- The state of being separate; disunion; disconnection. All the days of his separation he is holy to the Lord. – Num. vi.
- The operation of disuniting; or decomposing substances; chimical analysis. – Bacon.
- Divorce; disunion of married persons. – Shak.
