Definition for SNUFF
SNUFF, n. [D. snuf, whence snuffen, to snuff, to scent; G. schnuppe; allied to snub, neb, nib.]
- The burning part of a candle wick, or that which has been charred by the flame, whether burning or not. Addison.
- A candle almost burnt out. – Shak.
- Pulverized tobacco and various other powders, taken or prepared to be taken into the nose.
- Resentment; huff, expressed by a snuffing of the nose. – Bacon.
