TRAN'QUIL, a. [Fr. tranquille; L. tranquillus.]
Quiet; calm; undisturbed; peaceful; not agitated. The atmosphere is tranquil. The state is tranquil. A tranquil retirement is desirable; but a tranquil mind is essential to happiness.
