DE-CU'RI-ON, n. [L. decurio, from decem, Gr. δεκα, ten.]

An officer in the Roman army, who commanded a decuria, or ten soldiers, which was a third part of the turma, and a thirtieth of the legion of cavalry. – Encyc. Temple.
