JEL'LY, n. [Sp. jalea, from L. gelo, to congeal. See Gelly.]
- The inspissated juice of fruit, boiled with sugar.
- Something viscous or glutinous; something of the consistency of jelly; a transparent sizy substance, obtained from animal substances by decoction; portable soup.
