FO'LI-ATE, v.t. [L. foliatus, from folium, a leaf, Gr. φυλλον.]
- To beat into a leaf, or thin plate or lamin. Bacon.
- To spread over with a thin coat of tin and quicksilver, &c.; as, to foliate a looking glass.
