LETH'AR-GY, n. [L. lethargia; Gr. ληθαργια; ληθη, oblivion, and αργος, idle.]
- Preternatural sleepiness; morbid drowsiness; continued or profound sleep, from which a person can scarcely be awaked.
- Dullness; inaction; inattention. Europe lay then under a deep lethargy. – Atterbury.
