LI-THOX'YLE, a. [Gr. λιθος, a stone, and ξυλον, wood.]
Petrified wood. It differs from lignite, being really changed into stone; such as silicified woods, which are changed into varieties of sitex, &c. – Dict. Nat. Hist.
