WHITE'-SWELL-ING, n. [white and swelling.]

A swelling or chronic enlargement of the joints, circumscribed, without any alteration in the color of the skin, sometimes hard, sometimes yielding to pressure, sometimes indolent, but usually painful. – Cyc.
