SPA-DI'CEOUS, a. [L. spadiceus, from spadix, a light red color.]

- In botany, a spadiceous flower, is a sort of aggregate flower, having a receptacle common to many florets within a spatha, as in palms, dracontium, arum, &c. – Martyn.
