A-POTH'E-SIS, n. [Gr. απο, and τιθημι, to put back.]

  1. The reduction of a dislocated bone. – Coxe.
  2. A place on the south side of the chancel in the primitive churches, furnished with shelves, for books, vestments, &c. – Wheler.
