AX'IL, n. [L. axilla; Ir. asgal; Fr. aisselle; D. oxel, the armpit; Ch. and Heb. אצל, to separate or set apart; whence אצילי, armpits.]
- The armpit; a cavity under the upper part of the arm or shoulder.
