HARD'I-NESS, n. [Fr. hardiesse. See Hardy.]
- Boldness; firm courage; intrepidity; stoutness; bravery; applied to the mind, it is synonymous with hardihood.
- Firmness of body derived from laborious exercises.
- Hardship; fatigue. [Obs.] Spenser.
- Excess of confidence; assurance; effrontery.
