GEL'LY, n. [Fr. gelée; Port. gelea; Sp. jalea; L. gelo, gelatus; It is now more generally written jelly.]
- The inspissated juice of fruit boiled with sugar.
- A viscous or glutinous substance; a gluey substance, soft, but cohesive. [See Jelly.]
