Definition for GRAV'EL
GRAV'EL, n. [Fr. gravelle, gravier; Arm. grevell, or maen-gravell, (stone gravel); Ger. grober sand, coarse sand; D. graveel. Probably from rubbing, grating. See Grave, the verb.]
- Small stones or fragments of stone, or very small pebbles, larger than the particles of sand, but often intermixed with them.
- In medicine, small calculous concretions in the kidneys and bladder. Cyc.
