1. Fasten; attach; wear closely; (see OED: Ploughman in Burns' Wks, “His garters knit below his knee.”); [fig.] fond of; close to; associated with.
2. Connect; come together; join into a group.
3. Create marrow; restore oneself; regenerate cells, tissue, or bone; [fig.] exist; grow spiritually.
4. Unite threads; loop strands of yarn together; interlace fibers into cohesive patterns.
