melody, n. [OFr < late L. 'singing, chanting'.]
- Agreeable succession of sounds arranged according to rhythm, measure and consisting of a single voice.
- [Fig.] praise to God consisting of a joyful and thankful disposition, ascribing to him the honor due to his name.
