IN-FLO-RES'CENCE, n. [L. inflorescens, infloresco, infloreo; in and floreo, to blossom.]
- In botany, a mode of flowering, or the manner in which flowers are supported on their foot-stalks or peduncles. Inflorescence affords an excellent characteristic mark in distinguishing the species of plants. – Milne.
