SPARSE, a. [spars; L. sparsus, scattered, from spargo.]
- Thinly scattered; set or planted here and there; as, a sparse population. Story.
- In botany, not opposite, nor alternate, nor in any apparent regular order; applied to branches, leaves, peduncles, &c. – Martyn.
