- To reprove severely; to reprehend; to chide for a fault. Germanicus was severely reprimanded by Tiberius, for traveling into Egypt without his permission. – Arbuthnot.
- To reprove publicly and officially, in execution of a sentence. The court ordered the officer to be reprimanded.
