CON-TIN-U-A'TION, n. [L. continuatio.]

  1. Extension of existence in a series or line; succession uninterrupted. These things must be works of Providence, for the continuation of the species. – Ray.
  2. Extension or carrying on to a further point; as, the continuation of a story.
  3. Extension in space; production; a carrying on in length; as, the continuation of a line in surveying.
