- In Saxon, a dart, a weapon; as, in Edgar, or Eadgar, a happy weapon; Ethelgar, noble weapon. Gibson. This may be the Ch. גירא or גררא, an arrow, a dart; Sam. an arrow.
- Several kinds of fish are known by this name.
